Research Engineer

DICE Lab, University of Gothenburg

Currently working as research engineer in the I-AIMS project aimed at investigating how to enhance safety and well-being of drivers using a combination of biometric driver monitoring and vocalised feedback from a large language model. Previosly worked as part of STINT initiation grant funded project between the University of Gothenburg and Koç University researching humanoid social robotics, affective computing and digitalised gamified cognitive interventions. Have also been researching human/robot interaction and gamified therapeutics for cognitive interventions for Danish Brain+.

Research Assistant

Human Factors Psychology Lab, Seoul National University

Collaborated with an international and interdisciplinary cohort and assisted research in affective human/robot interaction, applied cognitive psychology, UI/UX, social robotics and VR.

• Active member of academic skill workshop. Demonstrated usage of Furhat robot design social interface and acquired field-relevant academic presentation and discussion skills.

We aim to create a new repository of better images of AI that anyone can use and to mitigate current dominant images of AI that reinforce dangerous misconceptions, and limit the public understanding of the current use and workings of AI systems, their potential and implications.

Motivation: 'Alva Markelius studerar kognitionsvetenskap med inriktning mot artificiell intelligens och robotik vid Göteborgs universitet, när hon tar emot stipendiet läser hon sista termin vid Seol National University. Hon jobbar också extra i ett labb där man forskar inom robotik, VR och interaktionen mellan människa och robot. För Alva är det viktigt att använda AI-tekniken rätt och i framtiden vill hon jobba för en arbetsgivare som har en förankring i både forskning och industri, gärna i en internationell miljö. Hon vill också jobba vidare med etiska aspekter och riktlinjer för teknik.
